Ten Plus
Textiles was formed in 1991 by ten textile artists from the North
West who finished Part Two City and Guilds, taught by the renowned
Joan Archer. They wanted to work together and promote greater
appreciation of embroidery in all its forms. The group is approaching
its twentieth year, for which two retrospective exhibitions are
planned. There are currently sixteen members who meet informally
to further artistic development and assess projects. The group
exhibits twice a year and members also exhibit as individuals.
At present, interests range from stitched paper and experimental
mixed media to weaving, quilting, bead-work and appliqué.
Some members teach classes or take workshops and all are happy
to undertake commissions.
